Sustainability
Responsible hospitality rooted in the land we call home.
At Pushkar Exotica, sustainability is not just a policy — it is woven into the way we live, build, and welcome our guests. Nestled in the arid landscape near Pushkar, we understand the value of every resource and strive to operate in harmony with our natural surroundings.
Water Conservation
Water is precious in the Thar Desert region, and we treat it as such:
- Rainwater harvesting systems collect and store monsoon rainfall for use throughout the dry months
- Efficient water fixtures in all guest rooms and common areas to minimise wastage
- We encourage guests to reuse towels and bed linens during their stay to reduce water used in laundering
- Our gardens use drip irrigation to nourish local plants with minimal water
Energy & Carbon Footprint
- Energy-efficient LED lighting is used throughout the property
- We favour natural ventilation and shading in our architecture to reduce air-conditioning needs
- Guests are encouraged to switch off lights and appliances when not in use
Waste Reduction
- Composting: Kitchen and garden waste is composted on-site and used to enrich our gardens
- Segregation at source: We practise waste segregation to ensure recyclable materials are sent for proper recycling
Local Sourcing & Community
We believe in uplifting the community that surrounds us:
- Locally sourced food: Our kitchen prioritises ingredients from local farmers and markets, reducing food miles and supporting rural livelihoods
- Local employment: The majority of our staff are from Village Nand and neighbouring communities, providing meaningful employment close to home
- Local materials: Our construction and furnishings use locally sourced stone, wood, and traditional Rajasthani craftsmanship wherever possible
- Cultural preservation: We showcase local art, music, and traditions through curated guest experiences, helping to keep Rajasthani culture alive
Biodiversity & Green Spaces
- Our property is home to native trees and plants that support local birdlife and pollinators
- We actively plant and maintain native and drought-resistant species suited to the arid climate
- Outdoor lighting is designed to minimise light pollution, preserving the beautiful Pushkar night sky for stargazing
How You Can Help
We invite our guests to join us in our sustainability efforts during their stay:
- Opt for towel and linen reuse during multi-night stays
- Switch off lights, fans, and air conditioning when leaving your room
- Dispose of waste in the designated segregation bins around the property
- Respect the local flora and fauna — please do not litter or disturb wildlife
Our Commitment: We are continuously working to reduce our environmental footprint while providing a comfortable, authentic, and memorable guest experience. Sustainability is a journey, and we are grateful to have you with us on this path.
